WELCOME TO STROUD HOUSE
Specialist residential and dementia care in Petersfield
Stroud House sits near the foot of the Downs, in the heart of the South Downs National Park. We are a small, homely care home for just 25 people, and everything we do is shaped around the needs and feelings of people living with dementia.
Not just a care home,
part of Petersfield
Moving into a care home is one of the biggest changes a person can make, and we never forget that. At Stroud House we want every resident to feel they still belong somewhere, surrounded by people who know them and care about them. Families are always welcome, and many tell us they feel part of the home from their very first visit.
From the day someone joins us, we take the time to learn who they are and the life they have lived, from the work they were proud of to the songs they still know every word to. Knowing each person this well means we can care for how they feel as well as what they need.

Our team
Our carers, chefs and housekeeping team know every resident well, from their daily routines and dietary needs to the people and memories that matter most to them.
With over 36 years of experience in social care, Rose Hollis, our Registered Manager, brings real depth of knowledge and understanding to dementia care at Stroud House.
She began her career as a Care Assistant, before going on to support adults with learning disabilities as a Team Leader, and later working as a Care Coordinator for the RNIB with visually impaired older people. That breadth of experience – across different settings, needs and challenges – has shaped the way she leads. Rose joined Stroud House as Head of Care, progressed to Deputy Manager, and is now Registered Manager.
Specialising in dementia and mental health, Rose is committed to ensuring residents receive the best possible care and that staff are well trained to deliver it. She is a strong believer in person-centred care, and that belief runs through everything at Stroud House – in how residents are supported, how families are involved, and how the team works together.
Food and dining
Good food plays a big part in keeping well. Our professional chefs cook fresh, nutritious meals every day, and they know each resident along with their specific dietary needs and preferences.
Mealtimes are relaxed and sociable, in a bright dining room that opens onto the garden.
Activities and days out
Activities are part of everyday life at Stroud House, planned around each person and what they enjoy. Residents take part in specialist diversional therapy, music afternoons, birthday parties and outings, and families are always welcome to join in.
We share lots of what we get up to on our Facebook and Instagram pages, so families can keep up even when they are far away.
